CBD Benefits for Body and Mind

It seems the use of CBD is highly trending for its potential health benefits these days. CBD popularity has gained momentum from its legalization in many states in the U.S. Most importantly, the ability of CBD  to work on various conditions.

Research and testimonials have revealed CBD benefits help with anxiety, pain, depression and sleep just to name a few. In a report from the World Health Organization, "In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…. To date, there is no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD."

Some may wonder, what is CBD? Well, our body has an internal system (endocannabinoid system, ECS) that produces active biological compounds. This system is naturally regulated inside our body. What is interesting, is that it controls our main and critical body functions like mood, pain control, learning and memory, sleep, temperature control, inflammatory and immune responses and eating. These are key functions for the mind and body. CBD (Cannabidiol) and THC are compounds made from the Cannabis Sativa plant and are effective at mimicking our body’s internal compounds.

Hemp versus Cannabis?

Both Hemp and Cannabis plants contain CBD and THC. However, for a plant to be classified as Hemp, it must contain a very low amount of THC (below 0.3%). Hemp plants are legal on a Federal level in the U.S. Cannabis plants can have levels up to %30 of THC.

What is the difference between CBD and THC?

CBD and THC are found mostly in the flowers of Hemp or Cannabis plants. Both CBD and THC are natural components found in Hemp. THC is known to have a psychoactive effect that gives you the “high” feeling. Whereas, CBD provides health benefits for your body without the “high”. CBD promotes a calming wellness.

What are the benefits

CBD has distinct properties that work with the brain’s receptors for serotonin (neurotransmitter), that controls reaction to stressful events and mood. Studies have shown promising results of relief using CBD for depression, anxiety and mood symptoms. CBD controls signaling through the central nervous system, which reduces pain. The use of CBD for pain relief has emerged as a promising alternative for pain management.
